Off to Oklahoma this week

Posted by Administrator in Untagged

Having just about recovered from Jet Lag and the freezing weather up in Minnesota, I'm heading off this week to Oklahoma and Kansas for shows at Quapaw and Haskell Indian Nations University.  Not that I can complain about our shows in Minnesota.  We had two sold out shows in at the Minnehaha Comedy Club in the Twin Cities - our first shows since the Showtime Special (Goin Native - the American Indian Comedy Slam) came out.  "Omigod I just saw you on TV!" - I heard that a few times.  "And here I am in person, this is just crazy!"-was my over-the-top response.
I dragged my mom along for the shows and she had a good time as always.  She gets along so well with the other guys in the Powwow Comedy Jam, it kinda makes us behave a little bit, which is nice.  And she just likes having a break from helping to raise her 9 grandbabies - yipes!  I have one kid and I'm exhausted.  She's already raised 7, now she's helping with another 9 kids?  Saying she's a 'strong woman' doesn't even begin to describe it.

Meanwhile my sister missed my shows due to kung fu practice.  I'd give her a hard time about it, but she knows kung fu.  And she just got Beatles Rock Band for her birthday, so now nothing else really exists in the world for her anyhoo.  At least for a few weeks.

I must say I am stoked about the response to our comedy special and the recognition this is getting us.  And it is about time we venture into some other projects besides our live standup shows.  How bout a scary movie with lots of comedy?  This is what I'm feeling.  A native written and produced scary movie - why not?
All right, time to go buy some diapers - laterz

Scared by Santa

Posted by Administrator in Untagged

Big excitement in my nieghborhood as Santa stopped by our block last night.  Cool thing, they bring a whole Santa sleigh float around town stopping for photo ops.  So we got my little Sophia all dressed up and got in line (tiny little line at that, way better than the mall!).  There was a toddler in front of us who cried and cried when he was placed on Santa's lap.  so I was ready when my little peanut started crying and tried to wriggle out of Santa's vice-like grip (apparently he was ready too).  And we took pictures to preserve this odd tradition of scaring the crap out of our little ones.  At least this year Santa didn't look like he'd just gotten out of rehab.

In other news, the big all native standup comedy special will finally be airing officially on New Year's eve.  And I'm also officially not allowed to mention which network it will be on.  So you'll just have to do some google detective work to figure it out.
In still other news I bought a bunch of donuts the other day.  No one ate them, so now they are calling to me each day until they are gone.  It's like the telltale heart - ugh.  Must resist.  Must go work out.
